Cuts Out Intermittently
PLEASE NOTE: If your are in anyway unsure of any of the steps listed below. Please consult a qualified electrician and always remove the plug from the socket before commencing work.
The most likely cause of your Dyson DC01 cutting out is a broken power cable. All vacuum cleaners suffer from broken cables from time to time due to their constant back and forth movement. They break either at the point were the cable enters the vacuum or, less frequently, just below the plug. The best course of action is to replace the cable. It is false economy to simply shorten the cable, as the whole cable has been flexed over and over throughout the cleaners lifetime. And a shortened cable often fails quite soon after the repair. Please follow the instructions below to change the power cable.
1. Remove the cyclone and bin assembly by grasping the bottom of the bin and rotating the cyclone assembly upwards. The cyclone will become unattached from the cleaner's main body.
2. Using a torx T15 screwdriver, remove the screw holding the switch cover plate.
3. Then remove the switch cover.
4. Using a Torx T15 screwdriver remove the cable clamp.
5. Using sidecutters remove the cable tie, without damaging the wires or insulation.
6. Remove the blue (neutral) wire from the terminal connector.
7. Gently prise the switch from it's holder.
8. Remove the brown (live) wire from the switch.
9. Gently pull the old cable from the rear of the Dyson.
Replacing the cable is a simple reversal of the steps listed above.
