Vacuum Cleaners

Vacuum cleaners are available in different sizes and shapes so that they meet the users' requirements. Traditional upright vacuum cleaners are pushed by a handle and the cleaning head and bag are attached. The user pushes the upright vacuum cleaner whilst walking around the room. Modern upright vacuum cleaners often have hoses and additional nozzles attached in order to combine the best benefits of an upright and canister vacuum cleaner.

Canister or cylinder vacuum cleaners are a wheeled unit with a long hose attached. Various nozzles are usually included. The user is able to access and clean harder to reach areas such as corners and stairs and for removing cobwebs from ceilings. As only the hose is carried, these vacuum cleaners are much lighter and easier to manage than a full vacuum cleaner, and so these types tend to be favoured by people who perhaps can't manage to use upright vacuum cleaners, or those who clean professionally. Some models of cylinder vacuum cleaners have a powered nozzle head which can help to loosen dirt and provide more suction.

Multifunction vacuum cleaners are canister vacuums that are able to suck up liquids as well as dust and dirt. Some models have blow function in order to help clear a blocked hose, or for collecting dirt into a corner.

Handheld vacuum cleaners are often used for cleaning up smaller spills or areas of dirt and are much more manageable than either an upright or canister vacuum cleaner. Hand held vacuum cleaners are also ideal for cleaning stairs and other hard to access areas such as furniture and car interiors. They are much less powerful than an upright of cylinder vacuum cleaner, and not really suitable for cleaning a whole room or house.

Futuristic robotic vacuum cleaners work by driving themselves across the floor. They can navigate around furniture and return to their charging stations. These vacuum cleaners are usually designed for domestic use, but there are commercial versions which are used in office, hospitals and hotels.

If you're looking for a new vacuum cleaner, now you'll have some idea as to which type is right for you.
