1. Start by detaching the Dyson's cyclone top assembly.

6. Remove the wheels by placing a large flat screwdriver into the gap between the DC05's body and the wheel. Ensure that the screwdriver is placed as close to the centre as possible before prising the wheel off.

7. Remove the bumper by pulling the two sides apart and sliding it off the body.

8. Using a Torx T15 screwdriver remove the 5 torx screws holding the upper motor cover in place.

9. The upper motor cover can then be lifted off the lower motor cover.

10. Then lift the motor bucket out of the lower motor cover and disconnect the brown (live) wires and the blue (neutral) wires.

11. Using a large flat screwdriver gently prise off the motor bucket top.

12. Then remove the motor seal.

13. Withdraw the DC05 motor by simply pulling it from the motor bucket.

14. Take careful note of the correct wiring connections before disconnecting the motor. Red to brown (live) and black to blue (neutral).

15. Remove the motor bearing mount from the old motor and fit it to the new motor before reassembling the Dyson.
