Changing the Cable

PLEASE NOTE: If you are in anyway unsure of any of the steps listed below. Please consult a qualified technician and always remove the plug from the socket before commencing work.

1. Start by detaching the Dyson's cyclone top assembly.

2. Then remove the cyclone /bin assembly.

3. Underneath the cyclone/bin assembly you will find the post motor filter lid. The lid is removed by pulling back the two locating tabs (arrowed).

4. Remove the post motor filter.

5. Using a large flat screwdriver, gently prise the the cyclone top assembly from the main body and then remove the blue pre motor filter.

6. Remove the wheels by placing a large flat screwdriver into the gap between the DC05's body and the wheel. Ensure that the screwdriver is placed as close to the centre as possible before prising the wheel off.

7. Remove the bumper by pulling the two sides apart and sliding it off the body.

8. Using a Torx T15 screwdriver remove the 5 torx screws holding the upper motor cover in place.

9. The upper motor cover can then be lifted off the lower motor cover.

10. Then lift the motor bucket out of the lower motor cover and disconnect the brown (live) wires and the blue (neutral) wires.

11. Take careful note of the correct position of the cable rewind cassette in the lower motor bucket. Before removing it completely.

12. Then lift the cable rewind cassette out of the lower motor cover.

13. Remove the cable collar by pressing the bottom leg upwards to free it from the lower motor cover. Remove the old cable and fit the new cable through the cable collar before reassembling.

Reassembly is a simple matter of reversing the steps listed above.
