Replacing the Switch

PLEASE NOTE: If your are in anyway unsure of any of the steps listed below. Please consult a qualified electrician and always remove the plug from the socket before commencing work.

1. Start by unwinding the cable from the back of the Dyson. Then, depress the switch cover (glamour cap) to reveal a small notch behind the switch cover.

 

2. Using the specially bent terminal screwdriver. Place the screwdriver into the slot (straight red arrow) and lever the screwdriver upwards to depress the switch covers locating tab.

 

3. After the switch cover has been removed. Use a Torx T15 screwdriver to remove the switch housing retaining screw.

 

4. Place your thumb underneath the cable grommet and push upwards. Releasing the switch housing from the main body.

 

5. When you have withdrawn the switch housing completely from the main body. Take a moment to remember exactly how the wires are laid out.

 

6. Remove the grommet from the switch housing.

 

7. Then detach the spade connectors joining the two blue wires together.

 

8. Remove the live (brown) wire that runs from the main body to the switch. Then remove the live (brown) wire that runs from the cable to the switch.

 

9. Gently prise the switch from its holder and fit the new switch.

Reassembly is a simple reversal of the steps listed above.
