Replacing the Cable
PLEASE NOTE: If your are in anyway unsure of any of the steps listed below. Please consult a qualified electrician and always remove the plug from the socket before commencing work.
1. Start by unwinding the cable and then remove the wand assembly from the rear of the Dyson. Then, using the specially bent small screwdriver. gently push the screwdriver into the gap between the switch cover and the main body. To gently push the locating lug on the switch cover out of its socket. Place a thin screwdriver into the gap that you have created and, using the same method, release the locating lug on the other side of the switch cover.

2. Using a Torx T15 screwdriver remove the screw holding the switch plate in place.

3. Holding the cable grommet firmly, pull upwards to release the switch plate from the main body.

4. Disconnect the two blue (neutral) wires.

5. Then disconnect the brown (live) wire running from the cable to the switch. (It may be either the left or right brown wire on the switch.)

6. Pull the cable with the grommet attached, clear of the main body.

7. After cutting the ends off the old cable. Push the new cable through the grommet. (If you find that it is difficult to push the cable through the grommet then lubricate the cable with a little washing up liquid and then wipe the cable afterwards) and then fit the plastic spade covers onto the ends of the spade connectors.

Reassembly is a simple matter of reversing the steps listed above.
